Mandatory Pest Control & Rodent Control Certificate for Airbnb & Short-Term Rentals

PROSTASIA PEST CONTROL SERVICES S.A. – Zairis informs you about the new legal obligations that apply from October 1, 2025 for every short-term rental accommodation (Airbnb, Booking, etc.). What is required
  • Mandatory pest control and rodent control certificate for all properties operating as short-term rental accommodations.
  • Maintenance of a pest control & rodent control file with all relevant documents.
  • The certificate must include:
    1. The accommodation details (address, owner/manager).
    2. The details of the certified company (licensing).
    3. Which areas were covered by the application (rooms, kitchen, shared areas).
    4. Which products were used (they must be approved).
    5. Date of application and validity period.
    6. Signature and stamp of the licensed scientist.

What inspections are carried out & penalties

  • Inspections will be carried out by services of the Ministry of Tourism and joint teams of AADE.
  • In case the specifications are not met, a fine is provided for (e.g. 5,000 euros or more) for the owner/manager.
