By the term disinfestation, we refer to any physical or chemical process used for the purpose of destroying or removing pests that exist in the environment where we live and work.
A parasite is an organism that lives on or inside a host organism and obtains its food at the expense of its host.
There are three main categories of parasites that can cause disease in humans: protozoa, helminths, and ectoparasites.
Although the term ectoparasites may generally include blood-sucking arthropods such as mosquitoes, because they depend on a blood meal from a human host for their survival, this term is generally used more narrowly to refer to organisms such as ticks, fleas, lice, mites, etc., which attach to or burrow into the skin and remain there for relatively long periods of time, for example from weeks to months.
Arthropods are important in causing diseases themselves, but they are even more important as vectors, or transmitters, of many different pathogens, which in turn cause enormous morbidity and mortality from the diseases they cause.
What are arthropods? Arthropods are small invertebrate animals. Instead of an internal skeleton made of bones, they have an external shell, or skeleton, made of a hard, rigid material called chitin. The majority of arthropods are not harmful to humans. However, certain species are considered to be of public health importance because they may cause nuisance, adverse effects, or even transmit certain diseases to humans.
These arthropods can be divided into four main categories:
arthropods that cause nuisance, discomfort, as well as all known adverse effects through their bites, for example mosquitoes, bed bugs, fleas, sand flies, etc.
ectoparasitic arthropods that live and feed permanently on the external part of the host, without transmitting microbes, for example lice, mites, etc.
arthropods that are passive carriers of diseases, for example flies and cockroaches that transfer diseases from feces to human food, etc.
vector arthropods that transmit diseases. The pathogen develops and multiplies in the vector and is transmitted to humans through the bite of the arthropod, for example mosquitoes, lice, fleas, etc.

For disinfestation and the design of an integrated insect infestation control program, it is necessary to identify the insect species, locate the possible breeding sources, and then select the appropriate disinfestation method.
The most common disinfestation methods are residual spraying, fogging, the use of gel, and other more specialized disinfestation methods, such as applications for the control of termites and other wood-boring insects.
To monitor the presence of insects, pheromone capture traps are used for crawling insects, while LED insect traps are used for flying insects.

During the penetration and long-term presence of parasites in the human body, problems are created not only in various organs but also in the immune system. The body’s continuous resistance to foreign pathogenic organisms leads not only to exhaustion but also to the development of secondary immune deficiency. In this way, severe chronic diseases are caused, which cannot be treated with conventional methods.
As is well known, the best treatment is prevention, and disinfestation prevents all the problems caused by parasitic insects.
